Three local bakeries compete for the best cupcake title at Bradley House

Three local bakeries are scheduled to compete for the title of Wright in Kankakee’s Best Local Cupcake from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the B. Harley Bradley House, 701 S. Harrison Ave., Kankakee, according to the host, Wright in Kankakee.Sweeney Girl Sweets, Josephine’s Bakeshop and Sara’s Gluten Free Sweet Treats are the featured bakers in the Hometown Cupcake Bake-Off, organizers said.Guests will sample cupcakes from each bakery and vote for their favorites, helping decide the winner, according to Wright in Kankakee. Organizers said entries will be judged on flavor, texture, presentation and creativity, as well as by the public.The winning baker receives a trophy and will be recognized on Wright in Kankakee’s website, Facebook page, and TikTok.Each bakery receives a small gift for participating.Admission is $20 per person and covers taste testing, refreshments and a tour of the house’s first floor. All proceeds go toward the preservation of the B. Harley Bradley House.“We hope th
